Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name, case number, or other text entered into a search tool is sent to the independent provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies any result. Winston County Court Docket does not keep or log the terms entered into those provider-operated searches.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When a visitor sends a message, the message may be retained so a response can be prepared. It is kept within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Like most websites, the service receives routine technical and activity information when a page is requested.
- The IP address associated with the visit
- The browser and its version
- Device and operating-system details
- Viewed pages and the time spent on them
- The referring page or service, when available
- The date and time of page requests
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small browser files that help measure how visitors move through the site. Analytics may aggregate that activity to show traffic patterns and page performance. Browser controls can limit or block cookies, although features may not work the same way after they are disabled.
What We Do With This Data
Technical and message information is used to operate and improve the service, not to create court-record profiles.
- Maintain reliable page delivery and site operations
- Route a submitted search to the appropriate partner service
- Understand which pages are useful and where performance needs attention
- Identify, investigate, and correct technical problems
- Support advertising that may be based on visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Winston County Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case information. It provides general routing information for Winston County Circuit Court, Chancery Court, Justice Court, Louisville Municipal Court, and the applicable official systems. It does not assemble visitor information into consumer reports or create reports about other people, and it is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside providers run the search boxes that appear on some pages. Information submitted to a provider is handled under that provider’s privacy practices, retention rules, and sharing choices. Winston County Court Docket neither sets nor controls those practices. Review the provider’s policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
The site links to official resources, including the Winston County Circuit Clerk, Mississippi Electronic Courts access materials, and other court or clerk pages. A link opens a different service governed by that service’s own terms and privacy practices. Read those practices before sharing personal information there.
Advertising partners may collect activity across websites in order to deliver interest-based advertising. That activity occurs through their systems rather than through a court-record file maintained by this site.
Who Might See Your Data
Winston County Court Docket does not sell personal information. Limited data can be disclosed to the following categories when their role requires it:
- Search providers that receive a query entered into their tool
- Analytics vendors used to assess traffic and service performance
- Advertising networks that display ads on the site
- Government or law-enforcement entities when a valid legal demand requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures are used to protect the information collected through the site. No online system can guarantee absolute security, however, and this policy does not promise that unauthorized access or a security incident can never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If a visitor believes that a child has submitted information, the site should be contacted so the information can be addressed and removed when appropriate.
Your Data Rights
The court-record access references on this site are not a general Mississippi privacy statute. For official records, the relevant framework is the Mississippi Public Records Act, Miss. Code §§ 25-61-1 et seq., together with the Mississippi court rules and MEC administrative procedures that govern electronic court access, redaction, and clerk-office viewing. Those authorities do not replace this policy’s visitor-data practices. A visitor may still ask to:
- Receive a copy of personal information held about that visitor
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Request deletion of information when retention is not required
- Object to or opt out of certain processing where that option applies
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices change. A revised version will take effect when posted here with an updated effective date.
